Rudi Oomen.
Rudi T.J.M. Oomen was born in Aruba and has successfully completed his Masters degree in Dutch Law at the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands) in 1988 and subsequently teached law for one year at that University. He has been practicing law in Aruba since 1989. His main activities are in the legal areas of contract law, corporate law, condominium law, insurance law, labor law, construction law, trademark law, copyright law and criminal law. He has international experience in mediation in insurance and construction law cases and has handled various large criminal cases, including border-transgressing fraud cases. He has also served in several legal and commercial institutions in Aruba. For several years he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the University of Aruba and president of the Board of Directors of the Aruba Port Authority. He was a Dean of the Aruba Bar Association and is at present a member of the Council of Appeal in disciplinary matters for attorneys in Aruba and Curacao. He is proficient in Dutch, English, Papiamento, Spanish and French.
